About Manisha Vasumithran
Manisha Vasumithran was born in Kerala, India and brought up in Muscat, Oman. Growing up outside India, she was always fascinated and keen to know more about her motherland, its diverse culture and its rich heritage. It was her dream since childhood to learn Indian classical dances and be able to perform it in front of an audience. After completing her master degree, she moved to Mumbai to start her career in civil engineering and also got an opportunity to train in Kathak for about half a year under Smt. Tanvi Palav there.
In July 2021, Manisha moved to Switzerland and to work as a Structural Engineer in Zürich. Shortly later, in September 2021, she started intensive training in Bharatanatyam in Nateschwara Academy under the guidance of her Guru Smt. Vijaya Rao. In this last 3 years Bharatanatyam had a great impact on her life. In her own words: “I am forever grateful to my Guruji for opening the door for me and accepting me as a Shishya. She imparted her knowledge of this art form to me, which has revitalized and developed my inner values to such an extent that it has made me a better person, physically, mentally and spiritually.”
