Thoughts on Summer Week 2021 in Tessin
In the second week of my summer vacation, I attended the dance week of my guruji, Vijaya Rao. Guruji, her husband Anton, and all of our colleagues have conjured up a wonderful atmosphere that exuded calm and joy. The location also contributed to the good mood. The days were filled with fantastic food and lots of intense dance lessons. That's why the week passed very quickly.
A very special event was learning a shloka. Not only was it nice to learn a new dance, but also to sing the Shloka myself. While dancing, Guruji was able to create an incredible atmosphere with her singing and the musical accompaniment of Anton, which I cannot explain. I have never experienced this calm, satisfaction and gratitude that I felt while dancing.
Another highlight was of course the double rainbow which we had experienced up close thanks to the good location. Both events are just a few of the many that made my dance week so unforgettable. During this week I have learned so much about my body, general awareness and rest that I would never have noticed in normal everyday life.
Being together with Guruji and everyone else has also strengt.hened all personal relationships and brought a lot of joy. I am very grateful for all the work that has gone into this dance camp and I really appreciate hav.ing Guruji as my Bharatanatyam teacher and Guru. At the end I would like to thank Guruji, Anton, Ursi, Lea and everyone else who contributed for the wonderful week in beautiful Ticino. And of course that you took so good care of me and my lactose intolerance - I have nothing to complain about.

That was my first time in this dance camp and hopefully not the last time. I felt very welcome from day one. The seminar house was very nice and clean and the view was very spectacular!
I had a lot of fun. Every day we danced in the morning and in the afternoon, which helped me a lot, both internally and externally. I really liked how we were never alone and always did something together with others.
The yoga lessons were also very exciting and helpful. Most importantly, the food was extremely good.
I hope that I can take part again next year and I recommend everyone to go to this dance camp for a week.

It was quite a spontaneous decision, to spend the second week of my summer vacation in the
Bharatanatyam Summer Week in beautiful Ticino. I love to dance and especially after my hiatus of
two months due to my final exams, I missed dancing and I was looking forward even more to an
intensive week, in which I hoped to learn a lot.
In hindsight I can say without hesitation that it was a really good decision. The Summer Week took place in Casa Venezia, under the supervision of my Guruji Vijaya Rao and her husband Anton. The house was big, beautiful and truly a house of silence. This created the ideal atmosphere to relax so that you could dance with full concentration afterwards.
Although it was a week of being with the teacher and other students, it felt more like being one big family. There was a lot of laughter, talking and sharing stories with each other. Everyone helped in the kitchen, be it cooking, cleaning or preparing a special dessert.
The atmosphere in the dance room was magical as well. I was able to complete my Varnam in three days and learn the Ganesha Kautuam in another three days, which was a personal success, which left me very happy. Furthermore, we learned a lot of other dances, one of them being a shlokha, which sounded especially sweet when sung by our Guruji, filling the whole room with heavenly tunes. Despite it being a very intensive week, since we danced six hours a day, I enjoyed it a lot. Apart from learning a lot, I was also able to solidify older dances and improve my stamina. We also visited Anton’s yoga lesson, which showed us a tranquillity we had not known before. Additionally, I also learned a lot about my companions and personal relations were also strengthened in that week. I am very grateful to Guruji, Anton and everybody else, for providing me with this opportunity to grow and learn more about my self. Thank you very much!
