Irina Schnider

Irina was born in Kazakhstan and grew up in Lithuania. She has lived now in Switzerland for more than 25 years, has a Swiss husband and an adult daughter. At the beginning she attended the Nateschwara Dance School with her daughter Nastassja for 5 years, which was a wonderful experience for her. Professionally, Irina studied ‘Integrative Gestaltpädagogik’ under Sr. Cécile Leimgruber for four years and has completed it with a certificate. She currently works as a massage and counseling therapist.

As a long-time student of Bharata Natyam, Irina is a loyal admirer of this timeless art. “I am in love with the spirituality and atmosphere of Indian dance,” says Irina. «The in-depth knowledge of dance, music and rhythm is a school of life. In the first few years I also received practical support in my Bharata Natyam studies from the Nateschwara teachers Sharmila Rao and Rosmarie Weber, and later from Ursula Hirt and Anna Groover.

I am very grateful and deeply convinced that my mental and physical health have a direct connection to the art of dance, philosophy and spirituality and their relationship to life taught by Guruji Vijaya Rao. The experiences through the wonderful meditation and yoga lessons from Anton Tönz also shaped me. The intensive hours with Vijaya Rao enabled me to bring this art to the stage. They helped me to find clarity, to live love, to openly see new possibilities again, and to experience eternity.”
