Saṃgīta-ārādhana is a gathering of musicians and music lovers who celebrate their love and passion for music. Various contributions make the program, both singers and instrumentalists present pieces from the repertoire of South Indian classical music.
Artists:
Vijaya Rao is the founder and director of the Nateschwara Academy Baden. She enjoyed her Carnatic vocal training under the violin maestro Shri Bhimarao Raghuram, the goduvadyam maestro Shri Narayanaswami Purushothaman and the Dasara Pada exponent Smt. Rajamma Keshavamurthy.
Pratheev Kanagalingam took violin lessons from 2001 to 2008 with Shri Mayilvaganam Theveraja. Since 2008 he has been learning violin with Shri Lalgudi GJR Krishnan and has had the great honor of personally taking lessons from violin maestro Padmabushan Shri Lalgudi Jayaraman. Since 2002 he also takes singing lessons in Carnatic music. In October 2012 he completed the Arangetram (stage debut) as a violinist.
Janarth Kanagarasa began singing lessons with Shri Arumugam Jegasothy in 2003, and violin lessons with Shri Umakanthan and later with Shri Lalgudi GJR Krishnan. In 2004 he started under Smt. Gowry Jegasothy Veena to learn. In 2014 he took music lessons from Veena Vidushi Smt. Kamala Aswathama, mother of Kalaimamani E. Gayathri (honorary director of Tamil Nadu Government Music Colleges). Since 2015, Janarth Veena lessons from her sister Shyamala Sajnani.
Suthan Sivarajaiyar has enjoyed a multi-year Mridangam study under Shri Neyveli B. Venkatesh. He is today a sought after Indian music artist in Europe.
Sharmila Raois a dance, music and language teacher at the Nateschwara Academy. At the age of eight, she began her teaching in Carnatic Music under Shri B. Raghuram, later under Shri N. Purushothaman and his student Smt. Shantha Balasubramanian. In addition, she learned the Indian instrument Veena from Smt. Jayashree Aravind and Shri A. Shankar Raman. Sharmila Rao also studied classical western music in flute and piano, the latter for more than ten years under the pedagogue Jacobus Baumann.
Renate Streuli has been a singing student under Smt since 2005. Vijaya Rao. She is currently preparing for her stage maturity. Accompanying her singing studies, she takes Sanskrit lessons with Sharmila Rao.
Rosemary Weberis a certified dance teacher of the Nateschwara Academy. She has a multi-year vocal studies under Smt. Vijaya Rao behind. At the moment she is studying singing accompanist for Indian dance Bharata Natyam. Accompanying her music education, she learned the South Indian language Kannada.
Anton Tönz is a meditation, yoga, music and Mridangam teacher at the Nateschwara Academy. He began his Mridangam study in 1985 under Shri N. Gurumurthy. Later he received singing lessons from Shri B. Raghuram. In 1992 he continues his Mridangam study with Vidvan Shri KN Krishnamurthy. From 1993 he received instruction in the Gottuvadyam of Shri N. Purushotthaman. From 2006 studies with the musician and musicologist Smt. Gayatri Kassebaum and at Shri A. Shankar Raman.
Anand Bansal (Rao) and Advaith Coneru take singing lessons with Smt. Vijaya Rao and Mridangam lessons with Anton Tönz.
